AGP announces first list of 54 candidates

GUWAHATI, April 16: The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) today announced a 54-member list of candidates for the ensuing Assembly election, in which the sitting MLA of Sonai constituency Anowar Hussain Laskar has been denied the party ticket. Announcing the list here the party president and the Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta said that his party would contest a total of 79 seats while it would leave 44 for its ally BJP. IMPHAL, April 16: The Election Department has prepared all the formalities of conducting the by-election of the Kshetrigao assembly constituency on May 11 next.
