SC clears Subansiri Lower Power Project

NEW DELHI, May 9 ? The Supreme Court today cleared the last hurdle in construction of the Rs 7000 crore Subansiri Lower Power Project by giving its seal of approval to the project. Environmentalists worried over NE hydro-electric projects

GUWAHATI, April 19? Several environmental groups and activists have expressed apprehension over the way in which development projects, especially hydro-electric units, are getting clearance in the North East without having the least regard for ecological and biodiversity concerns. Fund crunch holds back Tipaimukh dam

Imphal, March 11: Governor Ved Marwah has stated that the Union Ministry of Power is holding back its decision on the proposed Tipaimukh High Dam for a temporary period as the Ministry if facing funding problems. The Governor gave the assurance when environmentalist Salam Rajesh called on him and submitted a representation signed by 26 environmentalists of the NE region today. Survey re-run on Tipaimukh

IMPHAL, July 18 Manipur Chief Minister W Nipamacha Singh today said his government has ordered another survey of the proposed Tipaimukh dam to determine its height.
