SC clears Subansiri Lower Power Project

NEW DELHI, May 9 ? The Supreme Court today cleared the last hurdle in construction of the Rs 7000 crore Subansiri Lower Power Project by giving its seal of approval to the project. The apex court?s clearance was essential for the project to get off ground as it has major environment implications including submersion of a portion of a wildlife sanctuary and diversion of a river.

Police kill rogue elephant in Arunachal

ITANAGAR, Feb 1 — A police team killed an elephant on a magisterial order after the animal was declared ‘rogue’, reports PTI. The pachyderm had killed a labourer besides damaging four vehicles and two residential buildings near Ramdas in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh. Arunachal forms panel to get agency funding

ITANAGAR, March 5: A 75-year-old villager of Tippi in West Kameng district was killed by a wild elephant recently, forest official said. Cases of increased attacks on human habitation by wild elephants were reported from several parts of the state.
