Delhi model for culture mall

New Delhi, June 20: Mizoram’s historical Aizawl Club will soon give way to a prototype of Delhi’s glitzy India Habitat Centre, which is the hub of socio-cultural activities in the capital. The building, estimated to cost Rs 12.37 crore, is being constructed by the state-owned National Buildings Construction Corporation Ltd (NBCCL) with finance from the Union urban development ministry. It is one of the many projects the PSU has undertaken in the Northeast with a combined budget of Rs 900 crore.

Aizawl, Feb. 2: The Mizoram government is striving toward achieving the highest literacy rate in the country by 2005, education minister R. Lalthangliana said today.

Villagers lynch rapist in Mizoram

Aizawl, Dec. 28: In an instance of delivering ?instant justice?, villagers in a remote area of Mizoram executed a man within hours of him raping and killing a mentally deranged housewife. A delayed report reaching here today said residents of Darlawn village in north-east Mizoram lynched Chhandama, belonging to the same village, after he admitted to the crime. Mizoram reverts to old school academic year

AIZAWL, March 25 – A government press release said the government is reverting to the old school academic year after careful consideration of opinions put forward by various organizations and prominent citizens, reports NEPS.

According to the release, the academic session that is to commence in May 2003, now will commence on April 23, 2003 with promotion exams being completed by the early part of March 2004. Accordingly, the government hopes to get back to the old school calendar year starting from January to December by January, 2005.
