Guwahati, June 9: Assam has roped in celebrated British travel writer Mark Shand as the international brand ambassador for the centenary celebrations of the Kaziranga National Park next year. Assam forest minister Pradyut Bordoloi said Shand have been selected with the objective of attracting as much global attention as possible for the celebrations which would be promoted as the “greatest conservation success story of the century”.

GUWAHATI, June 9 – The Buddhist community of the North-east region has expressed deep concern over the growing incidents of harassment and persecution of the Buddhist tribals by the militants and the security forces as well in the remote areas of Arunachal Pradesh. SHILLONG, June 9 – The ruling Congress in Meghalaya has asked the 12th Finance Commission for a special assistance to modernise the State’s police force and creation of additional battalion of armed police to enforce law and order in the State.
