Golden jubilee conference of BSS concludes

GUWAHATI, Jan 23 – The golden jubilee conference of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha concluded at Bamphar in Kamrup district recently with a three-day programme. The programme began with flag hoisting, felicitation and book fair inauguration. The flag was hoisted by Sri Kamala Kanta Musahary. Tea growers’ step to halt prices

DIBRUGARH, Jan 23 — Concerned at last year’s lowest-ever green leaf prices of tea, the All Assam Small Tea growers’ Association has decided to resort to desperate measures to ensure an honourable price for their produce. According to the association’s secretary Hemanta Kumar Gohain, bought leaf factory owners as well as the organised tea sector is being approached to ask them to buy quality green leaf from the small growers on an area to area basis. Security along Bhutan border to be beefed up

UDALGURI, Jan 23 – Security vigil along the 265-long Indo-Bhutan border will be tightened to stop the militants from perpetrating henious crimes like the massacre of innocents at No. 3 Borigaon and Bijni once again. This was said by Sri Pradyut Bordoloi, Minister of State for Home Affairs, while interacting with the local media persons here at Udalguri circuit house on January 23. Non-Bodos to be protected in BTC: ABSU

Reforms panel recommends disinvestment of 16 State PSUs

GUWAHATI, Jan 22— The Committee on Fiscal Reforms (COFR) has identified 16 State Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) for immediate disinvestment for their ‘accumulating huge losses, eroding their net worth completely and leaving no economic relevance under the present scenario’. It also called for disbanding of four PSUs.
