2 CRPF men hurt in Guwahati grenade attack

GUWAHATI, April 8 ? Two CRPF constables were injured in a grenade attack in the Paltanbazar area in the heart of the city around 8.30 pm today, according to police sources here. Some unidentified militants around 8.30 this evening lobbed two grenades at a makeshift camp of the 64 battalion of CRPF injuring two of its jawans identified as Subhash Patil and CL Patil. No need to implement POTA in State: Gogoi

NEW DELHI, April 1 ? ?There is no need to use Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) in Assam. We have existing laws to deal with terrorists in the State,? No compromise on sovereignty: ULFA

GUWAHATI, April 1 ? The United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) today asserted that it would never compromise on the ?sovereignty issue?. In an article published in The Freedom, the newsletter of the organisation, the leadership said that no military adventurism can compel the organisation to dilute its resolution of sovereignty of Assam. ULFA, NDFB procures huge arms consignment

GUWAHATI, March 29? The United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) and the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) have procured a huge cache of arms and ammunition from an agency in Bangladesh during the last month, highly-placed official sources disclosed today. The sources further said that a 10-member group of the banned militant outfits purchased these arms from Chittagong in Bangladesh, which included AK series rifles, SLRs and grenades.

ULFA appeals to Centre for talks

GUWAHATI, March 24? The banned ULFA has sent out a ?desperate appeal? to the Centre to hold talks with the outfit and solve the ongoing insurgency issue in Assam. ?We desperately want a solution to the ongoing conflict in the State and the three conditions have been already set out by us,? said the editorial of the banned outfit?s mouthpiece Swadhinata (Freedom) in its latest issue which was e-mailed to a few local media here today. The ULFA wants that talks be held in a third country, under UN supervision and that the issue of Assam?s sovereignty be discussed.?
