Ibobi puts balm on Naga wounds

Imphal, Jan. 5: Manipur chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh and some of his ministerial colleagues today visited the hub of Manipur’s Naga community, Senapati district, in a bid to smoothen feathers ruffled by his government’s refusal to withdraw the cases pending against NSCN (I-M) leader Thuingaleng Muivah. The daylong tour would have been interpreted as routine, but for the chief minister’s stand, which has antagonised the Naga community.

Manipur outfits told to stop extortion

Imphal, Jan. 1: The Manipur People’s Liberation Front (MPLF) has called on all concerned organisations to discontinue demanding donations and taking “extortions” from public in the name of armed movement from January 15 this year. Imphal, Jan. 1: The Centre’s eagerness to make the NSCN (I-M) leadership feel at home on their return to India has been counterbalanced by the belligerence of Manipur, which today declared that it would not hesitate to arrest the outfit’s general secretary, Thuingaleng Muivah, if he visited the state. KYKL releases all five persons unharmed, Maniruddin's fate undecided
