Mizoram CM holds talks with Muivah

BANGKOK, Feb 4 ? Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga today met NSCN (IM) General Secretary T Muviah and said dialogue would help in strengthening peace talks between the Government of India and the Naga outfit, reports PTI. ?We had very good discussions and I hope that now things (the peace talks) will move in the right direction,? ONGC insensitive to landowners? plight: Nagaland Home minister

KOHIMA Feb 3 (NEPS): Nagaland Home Minister Dr TM Lotha said the approach of the ONGC for the exploration of oil in Nagaland was ?unrealistic because they had not given due recognition to the landowners.

Speaking to NEPS here today, the Home Minister made it clear that the plight of the landowners should be addressed and further added that the ONGC was quite ?insensitive? towards this.?They (ONGC) have not taken care of the interest and wellbeing of the landowners,? the Minister stated. Consensus nominees for Naga party

Kohima, Jan. 19: The Nagaland People?s Front (NPF), which leads the ruling Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN), has decided to go in for consensus on candidates for the forthcoming elections to both Houses of Parliament.

At a marathon meeting held over two days, the party decided to resolve the question on parliamentary elections through parleys within the ruling coalition. ?We have agreed to a consensus,? said NPF leader and finance minister K. NSCN top guns plan Feb. visit

New Delhi, Dec. 25 The two top leaders of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Isak-Muivah) are planning a second visit to India almost a year after spending a hectic fortnight in New Delhi trying to break the ice with the political leadership.

If all goes well, NSCN (I-M) chairman Isak Chisi Swu and general secretary Thuingaleng Muivah will be in the capital in February to take the peace process a few steps closer to the goal of ending Naga insurgency. The duo is expected to pack in a trip to Nagaland, their first since July 1999.

NSCN (IM) supports ULFA bandh, calls strike in Naga areas

IMPHAL, Dec 21?The National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Isasc Muivah) extending moral support to ULFA and other revolutionary organisations which have come under heavy attack from the Bhutanese army in Bhutan for the past few days, has imposed a 24 hour bandh in all Naga areas in the North east.

The bandh began at of 6 am on Sunday 21 and will conclude at 6 am the following day, according to sources here. The outfit which is currently continuing peace talk with the Government of India since August 1997 also stated that they fully endorse the 48 hour bandh called by ULFA, NDFB and KLO.

New Delhi, Dec. 20: The National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Isak-Muivah) today broke its silence over the Royal Bhutan Army?s operations against militants of the Northeast. Terming the exercise as brutal and cruel, the NSCN (I-M) said the military drive has shocked the people of the region.

Resolution to bring Naga areas together

Kohima, Dec. 16: The Nagaland government today introduced a resolution in the Assembly on integration of Naga areas contiguous to the state. The timing of the resolution is significant. The resolution, tabled by chief minister Neiphiu Rio, iterated ?its earlier stand and urged the Centre to bring together the Naga people living in the state of Nagaland and the contiguous areas by integrating them under one administrative unit?.
