Students protest fashion show

Tezpur, Dec 21: A rally was taken out by the Tezpur Regional Students? Union, a unit of the All-Assam Students? Union, to protest against an alleged exhibition of nudity at a fashion show held as part of the recently concluded Tezpur Festival.

The members of the Tezpur unit of AASU also submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner of Sonitpur here today.

The memorandum, signed by Apurba Bose, president, and Manoj Das and Jyoti Prasad Keot, joint secretaries of the AASU unit, demanded punishment for the persons connected with the fashion show. A procession was also taken out.

More than two lakh vehicles ply in city roads everyday

GUWAHATI, Dec 19— Facing problems like acute shortage of manpower, shortage of vehicles and lack of required equipment, the city traffic police force is finding it tough to regulate traffic flow in Guwahati city. BOKAKHAT, Dec 17 – Aideu Handique, the first heroine of Assamese Cinema is no more. According to family sources the end came early this morning at her family residence at Kamargaon Panidihingia in Golaghat District. She was 87. Her death is attributed to old-age ailment. She was bed-ridden for the past about two years and was also suffering from paralysis.
