2 NCP MDCs withdraw support to GHADC EC

Accreditaton to 3 NE universities

GUWAHATI, May 27 ? The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), an autonomous institution of the University Grants Commission, accredited three universities of the north-eastern region on May 15. These are Dibrugarh University, Tripura University and Arunachal University, a PIB release today said. Dibrugarh and Arunachal universities have been graded ?B? under the new grading pattern and Tripura University has been conferred with a C+ grading. With this, NAAC has so far completed the assessment and accreditation of 261 institutions.

10 Assam Rifles jawans killed in Manipur

IMPHAL, May 27 ? At least 10 Assam Rifles jawans were killed and five others seriously injured in an ambush by suspected Manipur insurgents at Gangsad area, about 40 km north-east of here today, official sources said, reports PTI. The armed insurgents attacked the Assam Rifles convoy belonging to 25th battalion while the security personnel were returning to Imphal, the sources said. Reinforcements were rushed to the spot and a combing operation launched. The insurgents, however, escaped through the jungles and hills, the sources said.

9 NDFB militants killed in encounter

GUWAHATI, May 27? Militant outfit National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) received a major blow as nine of its members were killed in an encounter with security forces in the Mahamaya Reserve Forest in Dhubri district in the early hours today.
