NSCN-IM bristles at Jamir statement

Feb. 2: The NSCN (I-M) has flayed Nagaland chief minister S.C. Jamir for his recent statement that the outfit?s leaders had virtually accepted Indian citizenship by using Indian passports to travel to the country.

Jamir had reportedly said Swu and Muivah had visited New Delhi as ?good Indian citizens with valid Indian passports?.

Arunachal against ceding land to greater Nagaland

ITANAGAR, Feb 1 ? Arunachal Pradesh has opposed the inclusion of some parts of the state territory in greater Nagalim. However it made it clear that the government is not against the peace talks between New Delhi and NSCN (IM) leaders. "The State government is not against the peace process which should be within the ambit of the territory of Nagaland and within the framework of Indian Constitution", Takam Sanjoy Minister, Education and government spokesman told media persons, on Friday.

BJP teams up with 3 parties to defeat Cong in Nagaland polls

Over 10.16 voters to cast vote in Nagaland

KOHIMA, Jan 31 ? Over 10.16 lakh voters would exercise their franchise on February 26 for the election of a new 60-member Nagaland Assembly, reports PTI.

Of them, as per the newly-revised electoral rolls, the number of male voters stood at around 6.30 lakh while the female electorate were 3.86 lakh, according to official sources. As electronic voting machines (EVM) would be used for the first time in the ensuing Assembly elections, the EVMs were being displayed by the state electoral office at public places with a view to making the people familiar with the functioning of machines.

Trinamul debut in Naga polls

Dimapur, Jan. 30: The Trinamul Congress, which has entered into an alliance with the BJP in Tripura, was formally launched in Nagaland yesterday.

Imphal, January 30: The Khaplang faction of the NSCN is all set to hold political dialogue with the Government of India by August this year. NSCN-IM leader murdered

Kohima, Jan. 29: A senior member of the National Socialist Council Of Nagalim (Isak-Muivah)?s tatar (council), Tevodeho Tetso, was abducted and killed by unidentified persons yesterday. In a bitter reaction, the NSCN (I-M) immediately put the blame on its rival, the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Khaplang) for the killing.

Tetso?s body was recovered near Rusoma village, 10 km from Kohima, this morning. He was abducted by unidentified gunmen from near the Kohima High School junction on Monday.

Minister quits Jamir Cabinet

Kohima/ Dimapur, Jan. 28: In yet another jolt to Nagaland chief minister S.C. Jamir, senior Congress MLA and former minister T.A. Ngullie today quit the party and joined the BJP, apparently after being denied a Congress ticket for the February 26 Assembly elections.

Ngullie?s resignation followed a similar move by T. Chuba, minister for higher and technical education and land revenue in the Jamir Cabinet, on January 16. Home minister Neiphiu Rio had quit the party last year.
